The basis for the research work in this workshop will be artistic paintings that the participants will “bring to life” by creating short dramatic scenes. These images will serve primarily as a framework that allows us to explore different elements of the acting process. In order to tell the story potentially contained within the artwork, we will focus on: the method of improvisation; exercises for character sketching; the rhythm and tempo of the character and the rhythm and tempo of the scene; and the exploration of acting techniques with the aim of their complete reduction.
The final result will consist of three etudes based on the same image, through which we will attempt to demonstrate how the story, the characters and their relationships change depending on different uses of tempo and rhythm, as well as the application—or omission—of various acting techniques.
